Nail Technician Course
In this Nail Technician Course, you will be at school Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm and you will need to complete the required 600 school hours, this course can be completed in 16 weeks. We have partnered with pivot point learning fundamentals and will consist of a structured lesson plan that is taught by our licensed instructor. This course is broken down into General, Physical and chemical learning. The six hundred (600) clock hours/18 credit hours of instruction required of an applicant for a license to practice manicuring shall be apportioned as follows:
1. General-150 clock hours/4.5 credit hours Sanitation and bacteriology, anatomy and physiology, state law, salon management, and ethics.
2. Chemical-100 clock hours/3 credit hours Product knowledge, ingredients and usage of materials, manicuring and pedicuring, EPA and OSHA requirements.
3. Physical-350 clock hours/10.5 credit hours Massage, manicuring, pedicuring, nail care, nail artistry, nail wraps, sculptured nails, nail tips, gel nails, and nail safety.
Orientation The student is given a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations of the school, salon and the Cosmetology State Laws. Bacterial & Infectious Disease The student learns the understanding of the importance of preventing the growth of germs or destroying them entirely, when possible, particularly those responsible for infections and communicable diseases. Bacteria is studied so students can understand its different classifications, causes and phrases. Business Practices Students learn product merchandising and retailing of products and services. They are taught the technical skills necessary for salon business. Client Consultation Students learn how the steps in a client consultation, perform a client consultation and how to record client information on a client card. Corrections And Repairs Students learn the techniques of re-balancing the nails, how to identify the common problems associated with sculptured nails. Gel Nail Applications Students are taught the preliminary steps and procedures for the application of sculptured nails. Infection Control The students learn about infections, prevention, transmission, and immunity. They become familiar with sanitation and sterilization in the field of cosmetology. Liquid & Powder Extensions Students learn the application procedure of wrapping and mending techniques, the application of tips with overlay wrapping, including the benefits for the service, proper safety and sanitary precautions. Manicuring/ Hand & Arm Massage During this course the student is introduced to services provided by the manicurist which include massage and various manicuring techniques. The student will be taught the basic purpose of a manicure, which is to improve the appearance of the hands and nails. Nail Art Technique In this section the students are taught the techniques of nail design services and how to perform contemporary nail design services. Pedicuring During this module the student is given the knowledge of pedicuring as the care of the feet, toes and toenails. Professional Ethics Students learn the eleven rules of good ethics, is shown the importance of cleanliness, personal appearance and professionalism to ensure proper conduct and appearance. Safety & Health In this course students learn the local city, state and federal laws regarding health and safety in a Salon. Tip Application & Design Students are taught the art tip application and nail design.
